With the second rhinoplasty meeting we held this year, this concept is spreading all over the world from the hands of Turkish Surgeons. As it is known, we organized the Preservation Rhinoplasty Course in Istanbul Four Seasons Hotel during November 29 – December 1. 31 speakers contributed to the meeting held under the auspices of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. 271 foreign doctors from 37 countries – yes, you’ve heard it right (Russia, Italy, Azerbaijan, Spain, Brazil, France, Mexico, Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Venezuela, America, Albania, Ecuador, Morocco, Croatia, Netherlands, Sweden, Cyprus, Kosovo, Cuba, Kuwait, Peru, Sarajevo, Serbia, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Tunisia and Greece) – came to Turkey to learn the details of this technique. We had a very successful meeting with the attendance of over seven hundred doctors. This meeting of ours that attracted great interest has once again showed us how purposeful the step we have taken is.
Every aspect of the Preservation Rhinoplasty was discussed during the meeting. The doctors who have started to apply this technique all over the world shared their experiences. With all our sincerity, we shared with the participants how the tip of the nose is best reconstructed, the details of the letdown technique, the interventions made in the nose wings, and all the finesses of cartilage, muscle, nerve and ligament preserving surgery. Of course, Dr. Barış Çarık played a huge role in the success of the meeting. Aside from numerous speeches, he performed a live surgery. Another live surgery was performed by Dr. Ali Murat Akkuş. For three days, the participants were nailed to their chairs, so to speak, so as not to miss even the smallest detail. Even though I had some reservations before, I have adopted and started to use this technique having seen the results and the logic behind it; and during my speech at the meeting, I shared my personal development, m experience regarding the technique and suggestions to my colleagues that will be just starting their career. Using this technique, it is possible to more conveniently create natural and functional noses while preserving all the anatomic structures as much as possible, repeat and obtain similar results. As Dr. Daniel also said, rhinoplasty is entering a new era now and the doors of this era is opening from Turkey to the entire world.
